I enabled the keyboard but it does nothing when I tap mic.
Two common causes:
- Microphone permission. Open the yap app once and grant Microphone access — keyboard extensions can't request permission directly, the host app has to.
- Open Access. On iOS, the keyboard needs "Allow Full Access" toggled ON in Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → yap, so the keyboard can reach our transcription server. We use this only to send your audio for transcription; we don't log keystrokes.
Where are my transcripts stored?
Locally on your device, plus synced to your Yap account so they're available across sign-ins. You can delete any transcript individually from the History tab, or wipe them all with the Clear button. See our Privacy Policy for full retention details.
How do I delete my account?
Email tools@kleesto.com from the address on your account with the subject "Delete my Yap account". We'll erase all transcripts, settings, device records, and authentication data within 30 days and confirm by reply. You can also delete each transcript and sign out from the apps without deleting the account.
Why does the polish sometimes change my words?
With "Polish" enabled, Yap runs the raw transcript through a second AI pass (Anthropic's Claude Sonnet) to fix punctuation, casing, and brand-name mishearings. It's tuned to preserve meaning, but if you want the literal transcript untouched, turn off Polish in Settings.
Does Yap work offline?
No. Transcription requires a network round-trip to our servers. We're evaluating an on-device fallback for short clips, but it's not in 1.0.
Is my audio used to train AI models?
No. Our transcription provider (xAI) and polish provider (Anthropic) operate under commercial terms that prohibit using your data for model training. We don't keep audio server-side after transcription completes.
What languages are supported?
English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Greek, and Japanese in the current build. The accuracy on non-English varies — please send a sample if you hit a consistent issue and we'll tune the model.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
